“When we started using Prophesy’s Document Imaging module, we thought it was great...and then I went to Visions 2013 in Chicago and learned even more about the programs. I really do feel like a Prophesy super-user now!”
Scott Gahr has always been a hardworking and successful man, so it comes as no surprise that after 16 committed years of working for the phone company, running two businesses and farming, he was approached to buy his first trucking company. In 2000, he accepted the challenge, without looking back, and soon named the company St. James Transports.
St. James Transports relied on manual methods such as paper and pencil, Microsoft Excel, and scheduling via whiteboards until the staff realized they needed something more. As a quickly growing company, it was getting to be too difficult to keep track of loads and records with these manual processes.
Today, St. James Transports uses Prophesy Dispatch with interface to PeopleNet, as well as Prophesy’s IFTA Fuel Tax solution, Driver Management, EDI, Mileage and Routing, Fuel Card, and Document Imaging modules. According to Angela, Prophesy’s document imaging module has greatly benefited St. James Transports. “Document Imaging has changed our operation tremendously; because of it, we were able to get rid of all of the paper we dealt with. There was a lot of behind the scenes work and papers passed through a lot of hands before Document Imaging,” explained Angela. “Now, everything is automatic and all of our notes are made in the system.” St. James Transport no longer spends time filing paperwork or taking calls for Bills of Lading; they are able to focus more directly on business operations.
Training and Visions 2013
Angela attended software training first over the phone and Internet and then in house at Prophesy. “Both training sessions were great but I preferred the in house option. Being able to get one on one time with our trainer helped iron out our questions and allowed me to focus on the training instead of the hustle and bustle of the office,” explained Angela. Upon returning home from her training session at Prophesy, Angela acted as the program super-user.
Today, St. James Transports is successfully using Prophesy Dispatch. Angela admits that it originally took her some time to get used to the Prophesy solutions due to a shortage of office staff but now, they are using the system in full and are thrilled. “When we started using Prophesy’s Document Imaging module, we thought it was great. We were able to grow and gained enough office staff to allow me to dive into the system, and then I went to Visions 2013 in Chicago and learned even more about the programs. I really do feel like a Prophesy super-user now!” touted Angela.
